Marketing Without Internet: Challenge Accepted

posted on 19 May 2012 in Business and Finance

If you are a business that does not utilize the power of the internet you might as well close your doors now. Not using the internet would place a huge disadvantage on your company, so I ask you this, are you up for the challenge? Expect your workload to double as you realize you have to do things the old fashioned way. To even stand a chance you would need to utilize flyers, printed packaging like jewellery packaging, marketing through newspapers, magazines, promotions on the radio and television. One of your most important weapons to use against a business that IS using the internet is word of mouth promotion. A lot of effort would need to be put in to stand up against the speed at which a business can spread due to the vast audience the internet has to offer. With such an uneven playing field, it would be hard to believe you would even survive. Ask yourself this though, wouldn't it feel to good to do something without being a slave to your laptop or smartphone? Wouldn't it be more rewarding?

Loving Memories Of Toys And Games Played During My Childhood Days

posted on 10 May 2012 in Toys and Games

Toys and games play an important role in our life and children have a lot of inclination towards them - from RC tanks to dolls to computer games. In our childhood days as far as I remember we used to mostly play with dolls, stuffed toys, kitchen set, doctor set etc. Moreover apart from these toys we had not seen anything else nor did we get exposure. But nowadays we see the market is flooded with various types of toys and a variety of board games which we had not seen during our time. Also a lot of educational board games are available which the children not only enjoy playing but also learn new words and many new things. Whenever I see my son playing board games I'm reminded of my childhood days as we did not even know what board game was. The memories of toys and games played during childhood days remain through out the life and those days wont come back again.

So Here's What I Hate About Driving

posted on 4 May 2012 in Cars and Transport

There are many things that I hate about driving, but I put up with all of them because driving is a very convenient form of transportation, and it's also part of my job selling van racking systems. I hate it when people drive 40 miles per hour in both a 35 and a 45 miles per hour zone. I hate inconveniently placed stop signs that make you stop before the end of the road so that you have to roll forward to see if there are any cars coming. I hate stop signs in general, I think all stop signs should be changed to yield signs, which I believe are more convenient. Instead of stopping then looking, you can slow down and look and if there are no cars zooming by you can turn on to the next road or continue down the one you are currently driving. I hate that some people choose to drive cars that have fewer miles to the gallon. I wish that everybody drove economically and environmentally friendly vehicles.

Home Renovations and Enhancement Ideas Unique to Myself

posted on 1 May 2012 in Home and Garden

The changes I'd like to make to my house would be: changes in the backyard (garden room to be installed there), upper-stories, and changes to the garage. In the backyard I'd like to remove all the junk and un-needed shrubbery and trees. Level the land, and add a medium to large sized pond with a small bridge stretching from one side to the other as well as the aforementioned gazebo. With flowers and a gravel bed surrounding the pond, with benches and a small fire pit. Add in a covered patio that contains a small outdoor kitchen with seating for relaxation. The upper-stories really only require new paint and flooring. Maybe some new window and light fixtures, with new furniture in the rooms. Lastly the garage would require a small wall separating the car/work area and the relaxation area to create a small den in place of the relaxing area. Furniture and flooring to go in the relaxation area, and a new garage door to top it all off.

Working As a Construction Foreman in the Roofing Business

posted on 29 April 2012 in Construction and Industrial

If you have knowledge of all-around construction including the roofing phase of new construction and you can find a job working as a foreman in a roofing company. Qualifications to getting a job as a foreman you must be able to do supervision work with other employees and know all the different phases of replacing and repairing roofs. Working for a GRP roofing firm means when you go to work you do not have to travel to get to work unless you're doing it for the company and then you get paid for traveling. With a lot of the construction being around town anyway then you get to work local and the thing about working for a roofing company is you get to work outside and not tied down to the desk are working inside. The bad thing about working outside you know is having to deal with cold weather while working on top of the house and in the wintertime being on top of the house can be the coldest place in the world.

Making the Best out of What You Have During Your Free Time

posted on 21 April 2012 in Arts and Entertainment

When one is free, they can engage in anything they want. This is the only time that a person gets to do everything and anything that they have desired because they will have no other commitments. Knitting and Beading could be one of the things that a person can do during the time they have nothing else to do. This exercise requires skill and practice. One will have to learn how it is done before they engage in it. Knitting and beading courses are available online and offline. One can sign up for them and learn the skills. If you are slow, it will take long before you master these skills. A fast learner will get the idea quickly and proceed with the exercise. Creativity also plays part here. You will need to create your own work that is unique and different from the others. If you copy from the existing work, you will be penalized. The person you copied from will sue you for copying their work and that would not be good for you. It is good to rely on ones ability and make the best out of it.

Hiring a technician vs handling your printer problems

posted on 19 April 2012 in Technology

Truth be told, we cannot live without computers and their printers in as much as they can cause us a lot of trouble. Printer problems are especially troubling if you do not know how to approach them. The first rule that is given for handling printer problems is to found out how serious they are. You may go all out panicking only to find that your printer only needs a change of ink. Therefore before you spend time hiring a technician, confirm if the damage needs expert input. For kodak printer problems, you need to first check the kind of printing paper that you are using. Take note that the paper that you use to print your pictures will not be the same one that you use for regular documents. You can also check the paper tray to find out if you have run out of printing paper. If the problem comes from your printer not printing your documents you might want to check the printer settings to find out where the print instructions are being sent.

Fossil Fuels: the End of an Era?

posted on 15 April 2012 in Technology

As the price of gas per gallon of gasoline soars many people are being drained of their financial resources simply to make a daily commute to work, but does it have to be this way? The answer to this question is simply, “no.” Renewable sources of energy such as wind, biomass boilers, solar, hydroelectric, and nuclear power could provide energy at a much lower cost and with vastly reduced pollution than fossil fuels and coal. The unsustainability of fossil fuels is now more apparent than ever as gas prices rise and people are forced to empty their wallets just to do daily tasks. Even nuclear power plants, a source of energy often despised, can provide very cheap and safe energy for hundreds of years. While renewable energy sources do tend to have a high up-front cost they are ultimately capable of providing cheaper energy and a higher quality of life for everyone.

It's A Buyer's Market, Get Out There And Buy a House

posted on 15 April 2012 in Construction and Industrial

If you are already in the housing market, now is the time to buy, especially if you have great credit. We are currently in what is called a "buyer's market" Those selling the house have less control of when and how much they get for it.

The market is satiated with houses and the buyer has his choice from a very wide range. If you have the time, you can look at a dozen houses in a matter of days, make an offer, and usually the sellers are so desperate to sell, they will take you up on the offer rather than let their house sit there for another 6 months. Where things get tricky is when you have to apply for credit. Make sure you are pre-approved for a loan before you make your offer.

Banks are not willing to lend these days except to those with the best credit, so if you get turned down in one place, keep looking until you get your loan. But make sure you can afford the payments so a couple years from now you're not stuck with a house you can't afford anymore.

I sell construction machinery to the self-build industry and my advice is that when buying property, always get a house surveyor to check out the trusses of the roof, the integrity of the walls, the doors, the windows, everything.

Bartering For Services And Goods Will Save Major Bucks!

posted on 12 April 2012 in Business and Finance

In the old days people used to exchange goods and services with each other without the need for money. For example one may offer to paint a neighbour’s garage if he will give him a share of his backyard vegetable or fruit crop. However this system is outdated and has become obsolete. However I will suggest that it is a fantastic way to save cash in hard economic times and avoid the horrors of debt and bankruptcy. What I would do is make a list of skills or materials you have or can acquire. Then rate them in order of proficiency and put this list online or in a community newsletter. After than write a list of things that you need and assess which services you would exchange for which incoming services. With this scheme you can save you and your partner’s major bucks as well as getting a lot of jobs done that you have been putting off!

Dreaming of Hot Days and Warm Nights

posted on 11 April 2012 in Home and Garden

I cannot wait for summer! There is nothing better than waking up to a sunny warm day that is filled with possibility. The only thing better than a summer day may be a summer night. I love when it is still warm out at night. It's then that I take some cushions and throws, and make myself comfortable in a chair in the garden with a bottle of wine, and the radio on, listening to BBC Radio 3 and some classical music mixed in with birdsong - you cannot find a more peaceful scenario!

Also, summer is definitely the best time of year especially when you when you live somewhere that rains 80% of the time! Summer, no matter how old I get, will always be a carefree time for me, I'll always consider it a time of play and freedom just like I did when I was a school kid. I am so excited to be able to wear cute summer dresses and amazing sunglasses, not to mention beautiful hats! I am desperate to get onto the beach and to sit on the patio with a cold margarita. Just thinking about it makes me want to jump up and run outside, unfortunately it is still raining. Looks like I'll just have to keep dreaming for now.

On Adding a Dog Door To My House

posted on 6 April 2012 in Construction and Industrial

I want to add a dog door to my house. My husband and I have been living here for three years and just adopted a new puppy. We would like for him to be able to let himself out into the backyard once his housetraining is completed. I know a handyman service that is reliable because I have worked with them at the office where I am employed, and they know their metal canvity anchors from their coach screws - they're technical and more than able. I am going to call them to see if they can modify our kitchen door or suggest someone who can. If needed, we will just purchase a new door if that winds up being less expensive. It is just a back door so we are not overly concerned about the appearance. We hope to live in this house for a long time so the expense will be worth it and we can always replace the door again if we decide to sell. I am glad that we still have some time to take care of this because the puppy still uses a crate for now.

A New and Improved House, In My Head

posted on 1 April 2012 in Home and Garden

I designed my house and put in everything I would ever want - from lovely wooden stair parts to the colour scheme - I've planned it all. However, after the finished product you realize things you could of or should of done to it to make it even more amazing. I should have waited till I had enough to not worry about prices of builders etc. As I contracted some cheap builders that really took their time and took advantage of the situation. I would make my kids rooms a lot bigger there is never ending complaints about it. I have some rooms where it is not square more circular and although in my opinion it looks better having a circular room a square room is much easier to fit furniture too, I had a lot of problems trying to find furniture that would look good in the area. The last thing I would change is not having so many windows, although I love the way it looks but it is not practical, heat gets in and out more easy making my heating bills very high. I had to fit a lot of curtains to them and having them cleaned is a pain.

Chapter 1: the New Beginning from The Moffatts

posted on 31 March 2012 in Arts and Entertainment

I was born in the 90's, and I was about eight years old when the girls are so crazy about the boybands, N*Sync, BSB, 98 degrees, Boyzone, Westlife and A1 - those are the cutest boybands that I've known. But before I met those guys I fall in love with The Moffatts. Scott, Bob, Dave and Clint. I just got so crazy when I heard them sing "nananananana", especially with Scott and his blonde long hair. In the mall we found the album that I was craving for: "Chapter 1: The New Beginning" by the The Moffatts. From the time that I bought it I always made sure that I play it every morning and every night before I even go to sleep. I memorized all their songs from "I'll Be There For You", "If Life Is So Short", "Miss You Like Crazy" and all the other songs. But the my most favorite is "Sayin' I Love You". If only they were still active in the music industry!

I've since taken a job in a music studio - a search for recording studio london and you might find the one I work for near the top of those results!

The Secret to Staying on the Job

posted on 31 March 2012 in Holiday and Travel

Carina works as a school librarian in one of the bigger private schools in town. Although her salary is not so big, she is happy to be working in the educational institution. She has learned to work by the school's rules and she has grown to love the people she has been working with for the past ten years already. When asked what makes her stay, Carina was quick to reply, I guess there are things which are far more important than money. I like the feeling of being here - with the students and the teachers. I feel that I belong here. But really, aside from all these many reasons, Carina could not deny the fact that the free trips they get to enjoy every year is also a very significant consideration. Just recently, they have been told by the administrators that in a few months they will be travelling abroad. So right away, Carina and her friends gathered Information On Passports hoping to get one as soon as possible. Surely, no one wants to be left behind.

A Must-Have for Every Woman's Closet

posted on 25 March 2012 in Fashion

I absolutely L-O-V-E fashion and shopping! From my Yuki clothing range to my jewellery, I love buying and wearing the latest and greatest fashion items and accessories. However, as a student, I have a very limited budget. Last year, I needed a new purse for a trip I was taking to South America so I decided to buy a black one, which I have been using for over a year now. It soon became my favorite fashion item, because it can fit almost every outfit in my closet. Some people get bored by black, but it can easily be modified in order to be less classical. In the summer, adding colorful fabric pieces or summer scarves to it makes it original and gives it a new look. A black purse is a very classical item that will stay fashionable through time. This is why I suggest to every woman who still does not have one, to take their keys, get in their car and go buy one! You will not regret your choice.

Here's Why Oceana is the Greatest Nightclub in Southampton

posted on 20 March 2012 in Food and Drink

The best nightclub I have ever been to is also the biggest one I've ever been to. It is called Oceana and it's located in Southampton. It's vast open dance floors and cleverly distributed lighting system makes it a fascinating spectacle. They even have these neon beer mats that glow in the dark. They also have live tribute bands on the weekends which creates a great atmosphere. There are six different rooms to explore and each has it's own theme. My favourite has to be the Raykjavic Iceroom because it is darker than the rest, making even ugly girls look pretty. The low level ultra violet light illuminates the room and makes it look you're a part of a giant purple lava lamp which is a great experience when you're highly intoxicated. The best thing about Oceana, however, has to be the music. As well as great commercial songs, they also have a lot of different DJ's that slip in some of their own music which adds a cool, surprising element to any night.

I Love Pumps as They Are Hot

posted on 20 March 2012 in Fashion

My favorite fashion items are pumps. These are sneakers that go up to the ankle. I fell in love with them late last year. I often find ordinary sneakers quite boring as they lack sophistication. I was conducting a search on the internet for a pair of runners and came across them by accident. My favourite brands are Nike, Guess and Converse. They come in very vibrant colors and I tend to stick with the feminine colors such as pink and purple. I often wear them to the gym but also wear them to college. Occasionly I wear them clubbing with a mini skirt or a dress, and even carrying a black handbag doesn't look out of place when I'm in pumps. It can be an interesting combination. My entire collection is comprised of about fifty pairs. At times it cn be difficult to choose a pair to wear. My favourite ones are my Jordans. They are excellent for the gym and will never date. They actually used to belong to my brother so I am fortunate that they still fit.

It's the Structure That Makes One Wonder

posted on 16 March 2012 in Home and Garden

I've always been interested on what the interior of a house that interested me looks like. They say how your house looks like could also tell what kind of person you are. And so each time I see a house that is interesting I can't help but wonder what kind of people lives in it. Almost anything can capture my interest to a house. It can be its green roofing, its garden, the structure of the house or even its window. But most of the time it's the unusual shape of the house that captures my interest. So far there are only 5 houses that really captured my interest and I want to see the insides until now. The first one is the house on a hill back home that has a tower that looks like a tower of a castle. The latest one is that pink house with a huge lawn near work. If I have the money to buy it, I would definitely buy it and make it into a coffee shop just like the one that I saw in one of the Korean series that I saw last year.
